The Power of Sharing
Why Infoglen talks so much about 'giving’ and ‘sharing'.
Why does Infoglen, every now and then, keep coming up with occasions and opportunities where every team member can contribute time, ideas, material and money for causes beyond their immediate family or work?
We believe that the attribute of 'sharing' or ‘giving’ has to be in the DNA of every Infoglener. And there are huge benefits from it – personally, for the family, for the organization, and finally for the society.
On Infoglen's 8th anniversary we decided to spend time with some of the most unfortunate people who live around us. Very old people who are physically and mentally disabled, often injured or abandoned on roadsides; orphans with no one to even feed them; people with dangerously contagious diseases.
It was a very touching (actually hard hitting) experience for everyone who participated in this multi-city initiative. Earlier we had visited a tin-shed slum school to distribute books, stationary and snacks. We have been planting trees, doing waste segregation, and distributing blankets to those who live on roadsides.
The question that I often get is why Infoglen is so passionate about 'sharing' and ‘giving’. And my answer is that if we do not do this, then who will do it? We are not doing this for the whole world. We are doing just a fraction of a fraction that needs to be done. By 'sharing' we are learning about the other things in life and the world, besides what we do in our office and in our homes. Plus, we are also sensitizing and nudging others to think about 'sharing'. And 'sharing' gives so much happiness and satisfaction, at least to me. I am sure to many others too.
My main reason for writing today is to throw some thoughts and ideas at my fellow team members about the impact of 'sharing' in professional life. How will you describe your colleague who loves to 'share' tech tips from and makes your job easy? How would you rate an employer if she or he 'shares' a higher portion of company profits with the team members? What do you think of a boss, who publicly 'shares' the credit of a deal won, with the whole team ? Or a junior team member who comes up with a bright idea but is happy to 'share' her idea with everybody so that it can be polished? How will you describe a colleague who 'shares' some of his valuable time with juniors to coach and mentor them?
There are many such examples. And people can 'share' values, time, skills, resources, ideas, feedback, and so on, provided these people know how to 'share' and understand its value. I will not hesitate to say that people who share are leaders. They are trusted, respected and inspire others.
During my last stint as a tech industry writer, I did a series on IT company CEO's success mantras. And believe me, each one of them, in one way or the other said that they 'shared' a substantial part of their work day with their group heads, talking and discussing about everything in their life and work. I can say that all of them said that one of the reasons for their and the company's success was the time, experience, and feedback that she or he shared with his lieutenants. And the most remarkable thing was that each and everyone of those CEOs I write about, was actively pursuing some activity that was about 'sharing'.
I would, therefore end my piece by saying that even if you are not too excited about 'sharing', please start practicing it. You will see immediate gains, and they are many and they are big.

Joy of Sharing: Infoglen’s 8th Anniversary Celebration
In the spirit of celebrating our 8th anniversary, Infoglen embarked on a heartwarming journey during the "Joy of Sharing” month. Throughout this special month, we found immense joy in giving the gift we could offer—our resources, time and compassion—with those less privileged.
Across Five Cities: Making a Difference, One Smile at a Time
In San Jose, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, and Gurgaon, our dedicated team members joined hands to organize visits to shelter homes for the homeless. Through these visits, we aimed to create moments of joy, spread smiles, and share the warmth of our hearts.
On 4th Nov, our team in Hyderabad visited Ashreya Old-Age Home where they organized lunch for 35 elderly and 30 orphan girls. On the same day, our team in Pune visited the Mamta Foundation, an orphanage for 35 HIV+ kids, to distribute clothes and other items needed at the orphanage. On 17th Nov, our team in San Jose put together emergency winter kits for distribution to the homeless in the Bay Area. On 18th Nov, our Bangalore team visited the Thayi Mane orphanage and distributed dinner to 120 orphan children. On 21st Nov, our team in Delhi NCR spent time with and served lunch to abandoned elderly and disabled people at The Earth Saviours Foundation shelter home.
600 Meals & Winter Kits Shared, Countless Smiles Created
The highlight of our initiative was the opportunity to provide meals for over 600 homeless individuals. In every location, our teams came together to share their time and a warm meal or clothes, brightening the day of those less privileged.

Success Story: Verifone
How we transformed Field Service Management for Verifone
Company Profile: Verifone, an American multinational corporation headquartered in Coral Springs, Florida is a global leader in payment solutions. They provide technology for electronic payment transactions and value-added services at the point-of-sale. They were facing significant challenges in its field service operations ranging from lack of a centralized inventory hub, the complexity of tracking product movements across warehouses, and the need for customization to enhance the Field Service Lightning (FSL) implementation. Additionally, the existing process for managing orders, from invoicing to payment, lacked transparency, affecting both customers and service vendors. Verifone was looking for a comprehensive solution to streamline these operations and improve overall efficiency.
Problem
Inadequate Product Movement Tracking: Real time tracking issues causing disruptions in product movement across warehouses, leading to delays and operational inefficiencies.
Decentralized Inventory Hub: Absence of a centralized inventory hub resulted in scattered and uncoordinated inventory management.
FSL Customization Challenges: Need for customization in addition to the FSL implementation to meet growing field service needs.
Inefficient Order Lifecycle Management: Lack of a transparent and efficient system for managing orders, from invoicing to payment.
Vendor Action: Restricted visibility into service vendor actions, leading to delays and a lack of real-time information flow.
Data Update Limitations: Need for a custom solution to bulk update their data including work order creation, line item updation under each product, service requests etc. Due to manual processing only one data was being processed at a time.
Solution
Work Order Creation: Enhanced operational efficiency and bolstered customer trust by utilizing external objects to handle Personally Identifiable Information (PII), without storing customer information in Salesforce.
Custom Inventory Management System: Optimized field service management by introducing a system for scheduling appointments, SLA management, field servicing, work order management, and order swapping on Verifone’s Salesforce Instance.
Real-time Information Flow: Enabled real-time information exchange between Verifone and service vendors, by establishing a bidirectional integration between Salesforce and the vendor portal (Oracle - Verifone’s Legacy system).
SLA Configuration: Optimized service delivery, by configuring SLAs based on business hours, region, and the distance between vendor and customer locations to minimize delays.
Centralized Inventory Hub: Elevated the overall digital experience for service vendors by implementing Salesforce Experience Cloud that centralized inventory hub, streamlined the flow of information and provided visibility into product movements. Service vendors can now easily login to the community and get real time updates of their work order/service request. .
Order Lifecycle Automation: Improved operational efficiency by automating the order lifecycle, from order entry to installation, reducing manual dependencies..
Data Update: Boosted data management capabilities by customizing the bulk import tool, which allowed the system to support updating work orders and work order line items efficiently. This solution accommodates the update of up to 8000 records in a single transaction without any manual intervention.
